How can Reiki help you?
I’m truly passionate about this energy medicine practice, that originated in Japan. It’s backed by science, which gives it authenticity. The Holistic Nursing practice study suggests that Reiki can be helpful for relaxation, stress, anxiety and pain management.
In the UK, Reiki and other forms of energy healing practices were made available to 57 NHS hospital between 2010 and 2014. These hospitals are wanting to provide a more holistic approach to patient care.
There is strong data to suggest that Reiki is more effective than placebo when looking at measures such as lowering blood pressure, reduced heart rate and increased heart rate variability. It has also been shown to be more effective than placebo in reducing anxiety and pain.
It is important to note that energy healing and other alternative therapies are not meant to replace conventional treatments but rather to be used alongside them.
Personal reports of the positive effects of Reiki are unquestionable. Many have found that it helped with reducing pain, decreasing stress, anxiety and depression. Reiki improves overall wellbeing. To help with healing, the body needs be in a parasympathetic dominant state, which is our rest and digest mode. Reiki helps you to switch to this mode, which facilitates the healing process.
I have a young client who comes to see me regularly for Reiki. She finds it calming and balancing and has decided that she would like to learn about it, so that she can work on herself and perhaps others in the future. This just confirms to me how therapeutic Reiki can be.
